Know the river

Know the river before you get on it.

The South Thompson is a working river. It moves with current, and conditions can change. Our safety kayaker will be with your group from launch to finish. Every floater completes a waiver before heading out and watches our safety video created in partnership with Kamloops Fire Rescue.

Before you FLOAT

A few things to know before you get on the water.

  1. Life jackets are mandatory at all times while on the water. No exceptions.

  2. Stay well away from all bridges. Strong currents and submerged hazards make bridge areas extremely dangerous.

  3. Check the weather before you go. No floating in storms, strong winds, or poor visibility.

  4. Follow all instructions from your safety kayaker at all times.

  5. All floaters must complete a waiver and watch the KFR safety video before heading out.

  6. Children are welcome with a parent or guardian present to sign the waiver on their behalf.

  7. No alcohol or drugs before or during the float.
